    Skin-dress Fillet Breakdown

    Who's this knife for?

The Skin-dress Fillet is the crossover blade for the hunter and angler who wants one knife that transitions from field to fillet station. Most knives force you to pick a lane. Skinning knives are too stiff to fillet. Fillet knives are too flexible to skin. The Skin-dress Fillet was designed to do both. The blade profile gives you enough rigidity to dress out small to mid-size game while maintaining the flex to fillet panfish, trout, and walleye without leaving meat on the bone. If your weekends split between a tree stand and a fishing boat, this is the knife that goes with you both days without compromise.

    Blade specs and steel

D2 tool steel, hardened to 58-60 HRC. D2 gives you edge retention for extended use across both game processing and fish filleting without needing to stop and sharpen between tasks. Blade length is 4 3/4 inches with an overall knife length of 8 3/4 inches. Blade thickness is .104 inches, ground thin enough to flex along a fish spine but with enough backbone to handle hide separation and dressing cuts on small game. Hidden tang design for a clean, balanced feel.

    Handle material and grip

Available in multiple exotic hardwood, domestic hardwood, & antler. Handle length is 4 inches. Each handle is hand-fitted and shaped for control during both the pushing cuts of skinning and the long sweeping strokes of filleting. The hidden tang keeps the weight centered for a balanced feel in hand during detailed work. Hand assembled in Rapid River, Michigan.

    What's in the box?

    Care and maintenance

RRK knives are built for hard use in the field, shop, kitchen, and everyday carry. To keep your knife performing at its best, proper care and routine maintenance are recommended.

After each use, hand wash the knife with soap and warm water, then dry it completely. Do NOT place your knife in the dishwasher. Apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or knife-specific blade oil after cleaning to help protect the blade and maintain the finish, especially for knives used in the kitchen or around moisture and acidic foods.

Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, saltwater, blood, or acidic materials, and never leave the knife stored wet or dirty. For long-term storage, keep the knife in a cool, dry location and avoid storing it inside a leather sheath for extended periods.

To maintain the edge, use a leather strop or carbide sharpener between full sharpenings. Avoid power grinders or excessive heat during sharpening, as overheating can damage the blade’s heat treatment and edge retention.

Rapid River Knifeworks offers free sharpening and polishing for the life of every RRK knife. Simply ship the knife in and the team will restore the factory edge and finish. Customer is responsible for return shipping.
