    Trapper Pocket Knife Breakdown

    Who's this knife for?

The Trapper is the classic two-blade folding knife for the outdoorsman who traps, hunts small game, and needs a pocket knife built for real fieldwork. The trapper pattern has been carried by fur trappers, rabbit hunters, and woodsmen for generations because the two-blade design gives you exactly what you need in the field. The longer clip blade handles skinning pelts, dressing small game, and general cutting. The shorter spey blade gives you the control for detail work like scoring hides, caping, and making precision cuts without risking a puncture. If you run a trapline, hunt squirrel and rabbit, or just want a traditional folding knife with real purpose behind every blade, the Trapper carries on that tradition.

    Blade specs and steel

X50CrMoV15 stainless steel, hardened to 55-57 HRC. X50CrMoV15 resists corrosion from blood, moisture, and the elements for a knife that gets used hard in wet, cold conditions and rides in your pocket the rest of the time. Two-blade configuration with a 3 inch clip blade and a 2 1/8 inch spey blade. Overall knife length is 6 1/4 inches open. Blade thickness is 1/16 inch. Handle length is 3 1/4 inches closed.

    Handle material and grip

Available in multiple handle options. Each handle is hand-fitted with a slim, traditional profile that carries flat in a front or back pocket without printing or bulk. Clean lines with no snag points on clothing. Hand assembled in Rapid River, Michigan.

    Care and maintenance

RRK knives are built for hard use in the field, shop, kitchen, and everyday carry. To keep your knife performing at its best, proper care and routine maintenance are recommended.

After each use, hand wash the knife with soap and warm water, then dry it completely. Do NOT place your knife in the dishwasher. Apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or knife-specific blade oil after cleaning to help protect the blade and maintain the finish, especially for knives used in the kitchen or around moisture and acidic foods.

Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, saltwater, blood, or acidic materials, and never leave the knife stored wet or dirty. For long-term storage, keep the knife in a cool, dry location and avoid storing it inside a leather sheath for extended periods.

To maintain the edge, use a leather strop or carbide sharpener between full sharpenings. Avoid power grinders or excessive heat during sharpening, as overheating can damage the blade’s heat treatment and edge retention.

Rapid River Knifeworks offers free sharpening and polishing for the life of every RRK knife. Simply ship the knife in and the team will restore the factory edge and finish. Customer is responsible for return shipping.
