    Bread Knife Breakdown

    Who's this knife for?

Built for the home cook and outdoor kitchen enthusiast who wants a handcrafted serrated blade that outperforms anything off a store shelf. Whether you're slicing homemade sourdough, fresh baked camp bread, crusty loaves, or soft rolls, the long serrated edge grips the crust and cuts clean without crushing the interior. If you process your own wild game and bake your own bread, this knife completes the kitchen lineup alongside the Chef and Santoku. A bread knife built to match the quality of everything else on your counter.

    Blade specs and steel

X50CrMoV15 stainless steel, hardened to 55-57 HRC. X50CrMoV15 is a high-chromium German steel that delivers excellent corrosion resistance and edge retention in a kitchen environment where the blade sees constant moisture, acidic foods, and frequent washing. Serrated edge profile designed for sawing through hard crusts without tearing soft bread. Overall length is 15 5/8 inches with an 11 3/4 inch blade and a 3 5/8 inch handle. Weighs 7 oz. Full tang construction.

    Handle material and grip

Available in four handle options: Sorrel, Rosemary, Smoke Drift, and Cosmos Prima. Crafted composite handles designed for the kitchen line, built to withstand moisture and repeated washing without warping or cracking. Each handle is hand-fitted and shaped for a comfortable grip during long slicing motions. Hand assembled in Rapid River, Michigan.

    Care and maintenance

RRK knives are built for hard use in the field, shop, kitchen, and everyday carry. To keep your knife performing at its best, proper care and routine maintenance are recommended.

After each use, hand wash the knife with soap and warm water, then dry it completely. Do NOT place your knife in the dishwasher. Apply a light coat of food-safe mineral oil or knife-specific blade oil after cleaning to help protect the blade and maintain the finish, especially for knives used in the kitchen or around moisture and acidic foods.

Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture, saltwater, blood, or acidic materials, and never leave the knife stored wet or dirty. For long-term storage, keep the knife in a cool, dry location and avoid storing it inside a leather sheath for extended periods.

To maintain the edge, use a leather strop or carbide sharpener between full sharpenings. Avoid power grinders or excessive heat during sharpening, as overheating can damage the blade’s heat treatment and edge retention.

Rapid River Knifeworks offers free sharpening and polishing for the life of every RRK knife. Simply ship the knife in and the team will restore the factory edge and finish. Customer is responsible for return shipping.
